Spring is here, and so are the birds, back from the migratory journey down south. Although they are a pleasant sight, they often make quite a mess around the outside of our home. The professional residential cleaning experts at MOLLY MAID suggest implementing these tips to remove pesky bird droppings.

Wooden deck

Supplies

  • Rubber gloves
  • Plastic spoon
  • Bucket
  • Liquid dish soap
  • Stiff bristled scrub brush

Instructions

Use a plastic disposable spoon to scrape off as much dried residue as possible. Fill a bucket with warm water and liquid dish soap and dip a stiff bristled scrub brush into the bucket. Scrub the infected area thereafter and rinse with water. Repeat the process if necessary.

Car

Supplies

  • Rubber gloves
  • 1 cup of club soda
  • Spray bottle
  • Damp microfibre cloth

Instructions

Whether it’s the windshield or the body of the car, club soda is all you need! Pour 1 cup of club soda into a spray bottle and apply it directly to the offending areas. Let the club soda sit on the stain for a couple minutes then, wipe the area with a damp microfibre cloth.

Stone or concrete patio

Supplies

  • Rubber gloves
  • Garden hose
  • Liquid dish soap
  • Stiff bristled scrub brush
  • Saw dust
  • Broom
  • Dust pan

Instructions

Use your garden hose to hose down the infected area. Cover the droppings with liquid dish soap and scrub the area using a stiff bristled scrub brush. Cover the infected area with saw dust thereafter to absorb the stain. Let the saw dust sit for 20 minutes then, sweep it up using a broom and dust pan.
