St. Patrick’s Day is all fun and games, until it’s time to clean up the next morning. The professional residential cleaning experts at MOLLY MAID suggest using these tips, to help you clean the green.

Green food colouring on your hands: No, your green hands do not mean you’re turning into the hulk! Remove that pesky green food colouring by washing your hands with warm water and baking soda. If you don’t have any baking soda in your cooking arsenal, don’t fret, a little bit of toothpaste and warm water will also do the trick! Make sure to scrub your hands thoroughly. It may take a couple of washes to remove the green completely so be patient!

The smell of stale beer is in the air: Did funny Frank spill his beer on your carpet last night during his stand-up act? Not to worry, it happens to the best of us! Start by locating the spill. Once you’ve identified the culprit, mix one tablespoon of liquid dish soap and one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm water into a bucket. Next, dip a microfibre cloth into the solution and dab the beer stain. Make sure to alternate the dabbing process with a dry microfibre cloth as well, to help soak up the access liquid. Continue the process until the stain has disappeared. Once you have cleaned the stain, open your windows to air out the house.

Greasy finger prints on the walls: Serving chicken fingers, pizza, chips and jalapeno poppers seemed like a good idea at the time, but now, your walls look like a greasy art project! Don’t fret; at least the food was a hit! Start by cleaning the grease with a damp microfibre cloth. Try to remove as much grease as possible. Next, mix one part white vinegar with one part hot water into a spray bottle. Apply the solution to the remaining finger prints and let the solution sit for a couple of minutes. Remove the solution using a clean microfibre cloth.

Shoe prints on your carpet: With the Meatloaf album in full swing last night, you decided to dance the night away rather than worry about the carpet. Although it was worth it, you are now stuck cleaning muddy footprint off your carpet – yuck! Begin tackling the mess by vacuuming up as much loose dirt as possible. Next, mix ¼ cup of baking soda, ¼ cup of white wine vinegar and ½ cup of warm water into a spray bottle. Gently shake the solution over the sink to activate it. Apply the solution to the dirt. Let the solution sit for three to five minutes then, use a microfibre cloth to dab the area. Rinse the area with warm water thereafter and blot using a dry microfibre cloth. Repeat the process if necessary.
