Clean and Green? This Spring Make the Move to Environmentally Preferable Products
Our Experts Share Creative and Effective Options for a Healthy Spring Clean
In an attempt to keep our homes sparkling clean and odour-free, Canadians spend more than $275 million on household cleaning products annually. But are we doing more harm than good in our daily fight against germs?
As the health and environmental impacts of conventional cleaning products become more thoroughly understood, cleaning “green” seems more important than ever. On a typical cleaning day, in an average Canadian home, levels of chemicals in the air indoors can be much higher than the air outside – even in the most polluted of cities.
The good news is that there are options towards more natural, safer solutions to cleaning your home. In fact, most cleaning can be easily handled using everyday ingredients such as baking soda, white vinegar, olive oil, essential oils, and rubbing alcohol.
From a basic sink cleaner to a smudge-free window solution to a non-toxic air freshener, let our MOLLY MAID cleaning experts show you a healthier way to spring cleaning – that reflects your love of the environment.
Not only for use in the home, this special homemade cleaning spray is a must have at the gym – clean and fresh, don’t do another downward dog without it.
MOLLY MAID’S MUST-HAVE YOGA MAT RINSE
You will need: 3 drops of tea tree oil, 4 drops of peppermint oil, and 4 drops of spruce, pine or lavender oil, 10 oz. water, spray bottle, your yoga mat, and a microfibre cloth.
- Pour all the ingredients into spray bottle and shake.
- Spray your yoga mat rinse over the surface of your mat. Wipe dry with microfibre cloth. Repeat if your mat seems especially dirty.
- For a stronger antifungal spray: use 1 part water and 3 parts white vinegar plus 8-12 drops of essential oils like eucalyptus, lemongrass, sweet orange, or tea tree oil.
For those wanting to go “green” but needing a little extra help, the expert home cleaners at MOLLY MAID use cleaning products that are non-toxic and environmentally friendly as part of their Green Housekeeping Program. Our green cleaning service is designed for the health and safety of our customers, their family and pets, our staff, and to protect the environment.
