Have fun on vacation this summer, but don’t forget to pack everything you need to stay safe and clean.
Clean drinking water is very important, especially when it’s hot. Pack water for the car and think ahead to where you can get more. This is particularly important if you’re going to be hiking or camping away from fresh water sources.
How hot – or cold – will it be while you are away? Be sure to pack clothing and footwear that makes sense. You want everyone to be comfortable. It’s probably best to make a list so you’re sure you don’t forget anything. Bring at least one pair of socks, long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. Don’t forget swimsuits as well as sunscreen, hats and sunglasses.
Carry medical supplies such as painkillers, topical antibiotics, antacids and bandages. Remember also to pack any medications that your kids may be taking. Do research about health risks of the region that you are visiting and take any necessary medical precaution. For example, if there will be mosquitoes, bring proper mosquito repellents.
If you’ve got a long drive ahead, it’s a good idea to pack snacks, fruit and veggies for the car – so you’re not stopping too often and you’re not blowing the budget at the rest stop restaurants.
Choose nutritious foods so everyone has good energy (versus high sugar treats that can cause energy highs and lows).
The cleaning experts at MOLLY MAID suggest bringing hand sanitizer and packaged wipes too, as well as a roll of paper towel, some napkins and a roll of toilet paper (just in case). Throw in a few hand towels as well. If you are travelling with pets, be sure to bring separate towels for them.
Accidents can happen – never leave kids alone while they play or swim. Have fun swimming together instead.
