Tackle Organization with a Tension Rod's featured image

By design, an adjustable tension rod is the perfect solution for organizing items in your home. Its skinny, adjustable, and easy to maneuver allowing it to fit discretely into various spaces in your home.

Here are five easy ways to use a tension rod to organize items in your home:

Frozen food organizer: The freezer is often an area in your home that is difficult to keep organized; however, this nifty trick can help! Adjust a tension rod to fit the width of your freezer. Add twelve curtain rings with a clip and hook to the rod and spread them out evenly. Place the tension rod just above the shelving unit, towards the back of the freezer. Use the curtain rings to hang items, such as frozen bread or bagels, vegetables or meat secured in a freezer bag. This is a great way to maximize space, organize items and make it easier to see the contents in your freezer.

Shoe shelf: Create extra shoe shelves in the lower part of your closet using tension rods. Adjust four tension rods to fit the width of your closet. Take the first tension rod and place it about half an inch from the back wall of your closet. Take the second tension rod ad place it in front of the first. Adjust the space between the two tension rods so that the heel of your shoe rests on the first tension rod, and the ball of your shoe rests on the second tension rod. Create another shelf for your shoes by repeating the above process. This is a great way to add extra space to your closet and keep your shoes neat and tidy.

New and improved spice rack: Install a tension rod about an inch from the back wall of your food cupboard and place your spices on top. This not only maximizes the space in your cupboard but, it also makes it easier to find the spices you are looking for while cooking.

Vertical separator: Create tall, narrow dividers in your kitchen cupboard to help organize your cutting boards, cookie sheets, trays, and lids. This can be done by installing a series of tensions rods vertically inside a small cupboard.

Pet gate: Use several tension rods fixed horizontally across a doorway to act as a temporary pet gate. This is a great way to keep pet dander and dirt in one place! The rods are easy to install – and just as easy to remove.
